In the trenches...

Choosing authenticity is an act of resistance.

Choosing to live and love with our WholeHearts is an act of defiance.

You’re going to confuse, piss-off, and terrify lots of people – including yourself.  One minute you'll pray that the transformation ends, and the next minute you’ll pray that it never ends.
~Brene Brown

Today I choose authenticity.  With myself.  With those in my life.

Some days this choice feels natural to me and others, like today, it feels like it would be so much easier to seek out approval.  I know how to do this.  I know the things you do and say to make other people happy.  To make them like you.

But I believe in this act of resistance.   Even though at times it feels so counter.  And it is.  I believe most people operate out of "people pleasing" mentality.  And it feels so good to please people sometimes right?  Easy.  Fun.

But underneath all of that (and I know this) the very act of pleasing others is masking you hearing your own voice.  Or what I believe is God trying to speak through us.  It might feel easy on the surface but it always comes back to bite you in the rear!

So I will continue to practice this idea of believing that others are doing the best they can.  Believing the best of people and living wholeheartedly.  But I will also practice living my authentic self and having boundaries within that.  Confusing?  Yes....

Worth it?  Most definitely!
