Back at it!

After three weeks of lovely winter break we are back at it today.  When my alarm went off at 6:10 this morning I was shocked and disturbed and proceeded to flail my arms around in a torrent of disbelief, knocking the alarm off it's shelf and kicking off my day.  I find it cruel and unusual punnishment to subject humans to this hour of productivity at dark o thirty in the dead of winter.  It's just plain wrong.  In fact it may be some of the reason we are so messed up as a culture.  Let us sleep!  Let us listen and obey the natural rhythms of our bodies and the seasons.  And just for the record I AM a morning person, but even I have my limits.

Friday's Letter

Dear Mr. Veen:  I officially know it's winter when we have to roll up a towel to put by the attic door.  Brrrr!  Dear Lucky Pockets:  I know it must be hard to be the least admired of all the animals in this house, but could you please keep your midnight frolics down?  I don't particularly enjoy being woken up at 4a.m. by a hamster.  Thanks.  Dear Nathaniel Rateliff:  I had heard of you before I found out you are opening for Mumford and Sons, and had a feeling you were good.  However, now that I've taken a thorough listen I am sold.  Love this song.  Love these lyrics.  Dear Self:  Congrats on making a serious dent in the Christmas shopping, now to wrap it all.  And last to Mr. Veen:  I love you.  That's all.

Happy Friday Peeps!

Friday's Letter

Dear Mr. Veen:  this week has been a blur of in and out, here and there and it's easy to feel like ships passing in the night. Can't wait to catch up with my bestie this weekend!  Dear Gray:  although I enjoy wearing you as a color I don't really love you as a daily landscape - still holding out hope that Salem will see a little white before winter signs off.  Dear Weepies:  I find myself gravitating to your music this time of year - fit's my mood to a T!  Favorite line of Hideway "I try to be honest, try to be kind and honestly leave when I know that it's time"   - - you guys make it sound so simple!  Dear Tiramisu:  one word - WOW.  And last to Mr. Veen:  you are the cream to my coffee, the electric to my blanket, and the slippers to my icy feet!   Thanks for being there.

HAPPY FREAKING WEEKEND!!

A case of the " I want em's"....

It's that time of year when I start getting a serious case of the Christmas "I want em's".  Things that I know I don't need suddenly become of utmost importance to my health and well being and I wonder how I will survive without them.  Sound dramatic?  It is!  Actually, I love looking at all the pretty things and as long as I let myself look and maybe choose a couple lovelies I don't get too crazy about it.  Moderation is key - just like most things in life - and with that in mind I share with you some of my favorite "I wanna em's"

Call me boring but I love grey as a neutral!  It will go with red, black or my new blue, yellow, or green coat that I'd like to buy!  Cozy:)

I'm a big fan of the Matryoshka doll - have been since I was a little girl.  I loved playing with the colorful egg shaped ladies that doubled as puzzle.  These fun items make me smile!

Of course books are always a hit with me and these two look especially interesting.....

Cute new coasters and candle tins in bright colors would help me get through the dreary winter months.  I've loved this print by Ashley G. for awhile now - I'm sure I could find a happy home for it here in my casa!

And jewelry!  Anyone who knows me well knows that I love pretty things like these.  I adore the flower ring above and these necklaces and earrings are so delicate and feminine.
And just in case you're wondering all of the above items can be found at Anthropologie,Etsy or Borders;-)
