I'd Rather Be Thrifting

I wasn't sure whether or not to take it as a compliment last week when the clerk at Goodwill said "I haven't seen you in here lately - whatcha been up to?".  Obviously I frequent my neighborhood thrift store enough that I'm recognizable.  I'll take small consolation in the fact that at least he doesn't know me by name....not yet anyway.  It's true though, over the summer I haven't had the time to indulge in one of my favorite past times  - thrifting.  One of the  perks to my new job is its proximity to some pretty decent second hand stores, and even though I only get 30 minutes for lunch I've managed to squeeze in few trips.  Check out what I found today!

Ahh - the thrill of the hunt, the satisfaction of the find!  It's all very addicting.  I mean look at that awesome tin - I love the colors and design, and the cute little thermos- well that was a given.  The dress was a gamble but it looks really cute on and I think it will be fun with boots, or flats.

All in all a very fun thrifty kind of day.

Friday's Letter

Dear Mr. Veen:  it seems recently we have entered a new era in our household consisting of crushes, love notes, and general "tween-ness".  HOW ON EARTH did this happen?  Dear Thrifting:  it seems you are feast or famine.  After many trips consisting of no finds I was happy to be rewarded yesterday with this and this.  Happy hearts abound!  Dear mother of vomiting child in the grocery store:  I'm really, really, really sorry!  That's all.  Dear Coldplay:  this song perfectly ends my week.  p.s.  I'd love to see you in concert some day.  Dear Cosby Show:  you are just as good to my 37 year old self as you were to my 10 year old self - although now I'm laughing at the parents instead of the kids.  Thanks for proving some things never go out of style.  And last to Mr. Veen:  your patience with me is astounding.  Thank you for listening to my dramas and ramblings.  Beyond lucky to have you!

Sweet Inspiration

Often I find myself inspired by music.  Most of the time when I take the time to find the video associated with a particular song that's moved me I am sorely disappointed.  Usually the video I had conjured up in my own mind is far better than whatever I see which often times consists of artist's taking the opportunity to make themselves look as cool and sexy as possible.  This morning however, I stumbled upon a video via one of my favorite blogs that is truly beautiful.

It reminds me of being young and full of dreams and optimism, it makes me think of my kid's and finally it fills me with hope for the next generation and all it holds.  And the fact that it's got gorgeous scenery doesn't hurt one bit!
And to complete my thought of finding inspiration - I found some at Goodwill today:

Aw - isn't he sweet?  My first Christmas purchase of the season:)

The happy little pillow was an instant - yes.  It's just so cute and fun and yes yellow - and in wonderful condition.  The fruit crate is just awesome to have to create all kinds of fun little groupings and also great for storage.

All in all a very fun trek!  Hope your Friday brings you all sorts of inspiration!

HAPPY FREAKING WEEKEND:):)
