Confession...

My name is Erin and I love garden gnomes.

Yes, it's true.  Maybe it's cliche' because they've seen a small resurgence in popularity lately but my loyalty to the gnome runs deep.  The classic gnome with his white beard, pointy red hat, and jolly demeanor reminds me of a cross between an elf and Santa.  I like gnome's seemingly "hobbity" ways.  It seems to me they would throw a very good party!

To date I have been given a few little gnomes who make me smile every time I bring them out.  Lately with spring upon us and the sun shining in earnest I felt it only right to give my gnomes a place of honor on our mantle.  I think they look quite happy there....

I have debated the past few summer's about adding some sort of outdoor gnome to a corner of our backyard and have concluded that only an exceedingly special sort of gnome would be allowed in my yard.  Imagine, then my excitement when I stumbled upon this little fellow on Etsy.  I think he could easily make the cut.

And now I am off to enjoy this beautiful springy day in my garden.  Who knows - maybe I'll stumble upon a meditating gnome out there!

You're getting very sleepy....

Confession:  the last few weeks I've been fantasizing about sleep.  I think I officially got messed up when the time changed and ever since then when my alarm goes off at 6:15a.m. instead of jumping out of bed I have been forcing myself by sheer grit, will and determination to get up.  Also, I've been getting so sleepy in the afternoons that I've made coffee on more than one occasion in order to have the ability to drag my tired self to the school to pick my kids up!

So in keeping with my theme of rest this week I've decided rather than fight what my body's trying to tell me I might as well just listen and  -- well sleep more!  I've been stealing little 10 to 15 minute naps in the afternoon which can be glorious given a door to door salesman doesn't ring your doorbell.  I also have "slept in" until (gasp!) 7a.m. a few times!  I know, I know it's terrible.  You've got major dirt on me now.

The following images are an inspiration when it comes to getting that all important but elusive thing:  sleep.

Friday's Letter

Dear Mr. Veen:  thank you for being the kind of husband who takes the kid's to the holiday gift sale at school on dark and rainy nights.  You rock the casbah!  Dear Electric Blanket:  how is it possible I've gotten through 36 winters without you?  You complete me.  Dear Etsy:  just when I thought I would never make my first sale - BINGO, BANGO, BONGO - I did!  It really doesn't take much to make my day.  Dear Prime time Television:  I hardly ever watch you but tonight I did.  Wow, commercials suck  - that's all.  Dear Winter Song:  you make me feel happy and sad all and once and remind me of how much I miss a dear friend.  You are one of my favorite songs of the season!  And last to Mr. Veen:  in just a few short hours we will be hosting three crazy ten year old boys all.  night.  long.  Thankful you'll be with me for all the fun, games, and inevitable bathroom noises.  Over and out!

HAPPY FREAKING WEEKEND!!
